Discharge information

Going home is an important step in your infant’s recovery, and it is normal to feel both excited and nervous. Our goal is to make sure you feel prepared, supported and confident as you transition your baby from the hospital to home.

Planning for discharge

Before discharge, our care team will review your baby’s daily care needs with you, including feeding, medications, follow-up appointments and any special equipment or supplies.

You will have an opportunity to ask questions and practice new skills so you feel comfortable caring for your baby at home.

You will also receive written instructions and contact information before leaving the hospital. Please call your baby’s provider if you have concerns such as fever, trouble breathing, changes in feeding or anything that worries you. If your baby needs urgent or emergency care, call 911.

Going home

Our team can help arrange transportation from the hospital (via Lyft) if needed.

Our goal is to have your baby ready to go home by 11 am on the day of discharge. Your care team will provide a discharge time based on your plan of care, which could be earlier or later.
